Natalie is the best!

I started going to Avalon Salon & Spa almost three years ago and I will follow Natalie anywhere! She is very professional, knowledable and always gives me exactly what I want. She makes great suggestions and has never steered me in the wrong direction. I am the type of person that changes my hair often, if not drastically and Natalie always gives me an honest opinion and produces amazing results. She does great on color and is the only person in San Antonio that was able to cut my hair in the distinct style I had when I first started. I am growing out my hair now, but Natalie has kept it from looking awkward or shapeless. I would highly recommend her and have to anyone I know! I receive compliments on my hair all the time and just received one today, even though the last time I got it colored was 3 weeks ago! I have also gone to Kellie several times for spray tanning. She was completely professional and produced amazing results! Her spray tan technique looks completely natural, even when it starts to fade. I would highly recommend Avalon Salon & Spa! They have a great atmosphere and reasonable prices, especially for the quality of service provided!
My GF was very dissappointed in her haircut

I recommended AVALON to my GF due to the reviews on this page. She called me after her 4 hour appt almost in tears due to the haircut (the color treatment was OK). Stylist Rhoni actually cut her hair shorter than my GF directions. Apparently Rhoni decided that her way was better than her client's wishes. That surprise didn't go well.

I've lived in San Antonio for four years and had no luck communicating with previous stylists regarding what look I wanted to achieve. I like to highlight my hair and ended up with orange roots, brassy blonde and eventually I was completely washed out from the all over blonde look that other stylists gave me. I wanted a balance between my natural hair color and blonde highlights -- I wanted depth. My hair appointments ran from 4-6 hours per visit and I was spending extra time and money on corrections. Within five minutes of meeting Liz, I knew coming to Avalon was the best decision. She is warm and friendly, and she LISTENS. I even had pictures on my cell phone of how I had my hair before I moved here and she looked at all of them. I must have thanked her a billion times before I left and my family and friends have said all day -- WOW. It's perfect. Natural looking. You. Trust me. Avalon gets what you want and you WILL NOT be disappointed. I was out out of there in two hours and paid twice as LESS than the other salons I had been going to. Communication is the key and actions bring results. Thanks Avalon!!! NOTE: I've been back since this review and was even happier :)
Execellent Color Job! Fun and Friendly Staff

I have to say that I am a very, very nervous new client. I have lived outside of the U.S. for the past three years and have had some really bad haircuts and colors. I finally found a great place six months ago in Singapore and was sad to have to move. I called Avalon on 6/29 and spoke with Kourtney G about having my hair colored along the same path my stylist in Singapore had been doing. She and I spoke for about 15mins and she recommended I try to get the formula. I booked the appointment for 7/1 with her and said I would call her back with the info. She listened to all of my fears (I normally have very dark brown hair - level 4 - and decided I wanted to lighten it as I now have A LOT of gray; I am now around a light 6) She was able to match the highlights (no big ugly chunks for me!) and carry on with the lightening process just as if she was the one who had started this lightening process with me back in Singapore! The color is exactly what I want and where I want my hair to go. I had one color highlights, plus a toner and a trim and I have to say that I have never been happier - especially since she was not the one who started this process with me to begin with. So after one phone consult, a follow-up call to give her the requested info, another short consult before we began the process and then the final result - there is no way they charge enough! The rest of the staff seemed friendly, the salon was very clean and organized and they all seemed to work together like a family. Not only did Kourtney G listen to what I wanted, she achieved the next step in the process my former stylist and I had talked about. Thank you so much! I am finally going to be relocated to Houston in August but believe me every six to eight weeks when my hair in need of work/maintenance I am making the drive to S.A. Thank you Avalon!
6th city I've lived, BEST salon I've ever been to

I found Avalon after realizing I no longer wanted to pay the outrageous prices I was paying at my former salon in Stone Oak. I did some research, called Avalon for an appointment, and was randomly assigned to Kourtney. I have been seeing her for close to 2 years now, and my only regret is that I didn't find her as soon as I moved to San Antonio. The first time I met her she made me feel comfortable, and she has made me laugh every visit since. I like to wear extensions - which can be difficult to work with. But Kourtney plus the owner Billy have always made special efforts to make sure I have exactly what I need and like. And Kourtney is the best colorist I've ever seen. She can match any extension I'm interested in wearing. I was married in January. For months leading up to the wedding, Kourtney gave me special hair strengthening treatments. She also made me the exact shade of blonde I wanted to be for my special day. She knew how important the wedding was to me, and she did every thing she could to make me look and feel as beautiful as possible. Since then, she has transitioned me back into a more realistic, healthier color for every day wear and still makes me feel and look as beautiful as possible. I feel blessed to have found Kourtney and Avalon Hair Salon. Every one there is so sweet! I am now a week away from having to move to our 7th city for our jobs, and I am truly sad to have to say goodbye to such a great group of folks. But I wanted to write this review to tell you to save yourself the time, effort, money, and energy in going anywhere else. Avalon is by far the very best hair salon you'll ever find in San Antonio, Texas.
